7-Zip is an open source answer for the most popular apps like WinZip or WinRar. It's extremly easy to use as well as small so it doesn't take to much place on our disks. It's well known for it's high compression ratio and 7z format which is far greater than standard zip files.
The results are just great. 7-Zip is able to compress a file from 30% to 70% better than other software. What's more it takes significant less time to do it. Application works fine or every type of Windows, producers have also implement a command line for Linux/Unix.
Although it has some bugs we highly recommend this programme to anyone.
